Northfield mayor backs Kurtz for Assembly

Northfield Mayor Erland Chau endorsed Atlantic City Councilman Jesse Kurtz for the Republican nod to run for Assembly in the second legislative district Thursday.

“He is a trusted conservative voice that has demonstrated his commitment to public service as the only Republican on the governing body in Atlantic City,” Chau said of Kurtz.

The two-term councilman and Atlantic County Commissioner John Risley are the only Republicans to announce campaigns for the district’s Assembly seats, but Former Assemblyman Vince Polistina (R-Egg Harbor Township) is reportedly seeking to run on a slate with former Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian and former deputy state attorney general Claire Swift.

Kurtz also won the endorsements of Atlantic County Committeepeople Greg Seher, Doug Stroz, Kathy Savini and Steve Weierbach.

“I am proud of the tremendous support I have received from across the Second District. These endorsements are a clear sign that my message of conservative values and strong common-sense leadership are what voters are looking for in order to fix Trenton,” he said.
