Jessica Cohen is returning to the legislative branch as the new chief of staff to Senate President Nicholas Scutari, the New Jersey Globe has confirmed.

Cohen had been chief of staff to State Sens. Ellen Karcher (D-Marlboro) and Joseph Cryan (D-Union) and as chief of staff in Union County before becoming a senior advisor and policy director to Scutari after he assumed the senate presidency.

She is also a former government affairs director for The Arc of New Jersey, and the New Jersey Hospital Association.

Last year, Scutari named Cohen as his representative on the StayNJ Task Force charged with implementing a senior citizen property tax reduction of roughly 50%.

“Jess has devoted much of her career to shaping responsible public policies in New Jersey,” Scutari said. “Her experience in government, with non-profits, and in the hospital and biotech sectors equips her with insights that will be invaluable. Jess is a highly skilled professional who works effectively with public officials and the individuals and organizations engaged in public policy.”
