State Sen. Chris Brown (R-Ventnor City) is backing Fabiana Pierre-Louis’s nomination to the New Jersey Supreme Court.

“After speaking with Ms. Pierre-Louis, I think she has the ability and fair temperament to serve as a justice,” Brown said. “While I have always said it is important for our government bodies to reflect the communities they represent, Ms. Pierre-Louis is also a role model on how anyone can achieve the American Dream.”

If confirmed, Pierre-Louis would be the first black woman to ever sit on the state’s high court, and more than 21 senators have now backed her nomination.

She would replace Associate Justice Walter Timpone, who reaches the mandatory retirement age of 70 on Nov. 10.
