Assembly to hold session five days before legislative race

In an unusual move, the Assembly will hold a voting session just five days before the state’s only legislative election of the year.

Assemblywoman Aura Dunn (R-Mendham) is running for the remainder of State Sen. Tony Bucco’s (R-Boonton) unexpired Assembly term.

She faces Democrat Darcy Draeger, who ran for the seat against Bucco and Assemblyman Brian Bergen (R-Denville) last year.

The measures on the board list for Thursday’s session are largely uncontroversial, meaning any votes Dunn casts tomorrow likely won’t impact her race much. That’s doubly true given nearly 2.8 million voters in the state have already returned their ballots.

Still, it may deprive Dunn of a handful of hours on the campaign trail.
