Scarinci will play national role in push for U.S. Supreme Court term limits

New Jersey power lawyer Donald Scarinci will serve on the advisory board of Term Limit the Court, which is advocating for term limits for U.S. Supreme Court justices and pursuing federal legislation that would set that term at eighteen years.

“Donald Scarinci has a well-earned reputation as a keen and insightful authority on the Constitution and the courts,” said Alan Cohn, the group’s CEO. “We believe ending lifelong tenure on the court is imperative to restoring public confidence.  We are grateful and honored Donald is joining this effort.”

A former federal judge and retired Idaho State Supreme Court Justice are also joining Scarinci on the board.

A poll conducted by the Associated Press and NORC Center for Public Affairs found that two-thirds of Americans favor term limits for the Supreme Court.

Scarinci, a fixture in New Jersey politics since the 1980s, is the managing partner at Scarinci Hollenbeck.  He is the editor of Constitutional Law Reporter, an award-winning website that contains an annotated U.S. Constitution and information about the Supreme Court. Scarinci is the author of David Brearley and the Making of the United States Constitution and Redistricting & the Politics of Reform, and writes a column for the New Jersey Globe.
