Reports: Trump to nominate Amy Comey Barrett to U.S. Supreme Court

Multiple media outlets are reporting that President Donald Trump will nominate Amy Comey Barrett, a 48-year-old conservative U.S. Court of Appeals judge from Indiana, to replace Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Trump as said he would announce his choice at 5 PM on Saturday.

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has promised a speedy confirmation process as Republicans rush to fill the top court vacancy 39 days before a presidential election.

Both of New Jersey’s U.S. Senators are expected to strongly oppose Barrett’s nomination.

Booker voted against the confirmation of Barrett to be a U.S. Circuit Court Judge for the 7th Circuit in 2017; Menendez did not vote on that nomination.  The Senate confirmed her, 55-43.
