Lucchese Crime Family capo admits to assaulting boyfriend of ex-“Real Housewives of New Jersey” star

A Lucchese Crime Family soldier admitted today to assaulting the current husband of a onetime “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” stars in exchange for a heavily discounted wedding at the Brownstone.

John Perna, identified by federal prosecutors as a “capo” and “made man” n the Lucchese Crime Family, pleaded guilty go committing a violent crime in aid of racketeering activity when he planned and implemented an aggravated assault against the boyfriend and now husband, Dina Manzo.

Manzo’s ex-husband, Brownstone owner Thomas Manzo, was charged in June.

Thomas Manzo alleged hired Perna in June 2015 to assault automotive executive Dave Cantin.  Perna was set to hold his wedding reception at the Brownstone.

According to federal prosecutors, Perna and a member of his crew carried out the assault in July 2015.  The 43-year-old Cedar Grove resident was armed with a “slapjack” during the assault, prosecutors say.

In August, Perna had a “lavish wedding reception at the catering hall owned by Manzo “for a fraction of the price he would otherwise paid.”  Prosecutors say that over 330 quests were at the wedding, including members of the Lucchese Crime Family.

Manzo allegedly provided Perna with personal information about Cantin, including his residence, business address and vehicle, “so they could assault him.”

Prosecutors said Manzo falsified records of Perna’s wedding reception and failed to provide records to investigators in response to a 2019 grand jury subpoena.
