Former Woodland Park Mayor and current Ridgewood Village Manager Keith Kazmark released the following statement on the death of Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-Paterson):
“Bill Pascrell was nothing short of a legend. I can vividly remember in 1995, being 16 years old in a West Paterson Democratic Club meeting at Fire Co. #1 where Assemblyman Pascrell spoke. I was in awe. I wanted to work has hard as that guy did. His work ethic made a deep impression on me. His work on constituent services, public outreach and accessibility was second to none. But what will always leave a mark for all of us is his effort to solve extensive flooding from the Peckman River. His fight to save lives and property – a fight of over 25 years – is now Congressionally funded and will start soon. His effort, and now legacy will no doubt save lives and relieve the anguish of flood victims in both Little Falls and Woodland Park. The slogan “Our Fighter” wasn’t just a campaign tag – it was real. Thank you Bill for fighting for all of us, for your passion, your work ethic and most of all for being our friend. God bless Elsie, Billy, David and Glen. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. RIP Congressman. 🙏”
