Former State Sen. Joe Kyrillos released the following statement on the death of Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-Paterson):
“Bill Pascrell was a unique and strong leader who maintained his special spirit and energy to the very end.
We were both sworn into the General Assembly on the same day together. Despite different party affiliations, regions, styles, and a 23 year age difference, we became fast friends. I’ll never forget the day in 1989 when Bill came to my district to describe our friendship and our work together despite our party differences. And I was proud to sit on the stage as he was sworn in as Mayor of Paterson a few years later.
Rest in peace Congressman. Susan and I send our deep condolences to the Pascrell family.”
