Nicholas Mascaro, former Kenilworth councilman, dies at 33

Nicholas J Mascaro, a former Kenilworth councilman, died on September 2.  He was 33.

Mascaro was 27 when he won a council seat as a Democrat in 2014.  He flipped an open GOP seat, defeating Republican Kevin Leary by 17 votes.

He did not seek re-election to a second term and stepped down five months earlier to permit a smooth transition to his successor.

Mascaro was a sales manager for Zillow.

He is survived by his wife, Nina, daughter, Marcy, his parents, brother and sister

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 8 from 408 PM at the Mastapeter Funeral Home in Roselle park.  Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 10 AM Wednesday.
