Bloomingdale mayor dies at 56

Jonathan Dunleavy has been mayor since 2011

Bloomingdale Mayor Jonathan Dunleavy passed away suddenly on Friday night.  He was 56.

Dunleavy, a Democrat, has served as mayor since 2011, when Republican had a 5-1 majority on the borough council.

He was elected mayor in 2010, defeating Republican Linda Huntley by a 52%-48% margin.  Dunleavy succeeded another Democrat, William Steenstra, who did not see re-election.

Dunleavy was a councilman from 2000 to 2005.
