Reporters to be masked at Murphy briefings

By David Wildstein, April 06 2020 9:35 am

Reporters attending Gov. Phil Murphy’s daily press briefings will be required to wear cloth face coverings, the governor’s office announce in an updated schedule released on Sunday.

Murphy’s staff had already begin social distancing of journalists on March 19.  Briefings were moved from the Office of the Governor to the much larger ballroom at the Trenton War Memorial where at least six feet separated each person in attendance.

Because of space constraints, only one reporter for each news outlet will be admitted to the briefing.

Murphy has been appearing on national television news shows almost daily from a makeshift studio installed at his Middletown home.  He’ll be on “The Rachel Maddow Show” on MSNBC at 9 PM tonight.
