Oliver Tribute: Kevin O’Toole

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Chairman Kevin O’Toole released the following statement on the death of Lieutenant Gov. Sheila Oliver:

“I was shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of my friend and former colleague, Lieutenant Governor Sheila Oliver.

Lieutenant Governor Oliver had an extraordinary career of public service fueled by a deep commitment to her community and to the State of New Jersey. From the Board of Education of the East Orange School District to the Essex County Board of Commissioners to Speaker of the New Jersey State Assembly and, finally, as our Lieutenant Governor, Sheila ascended to the highest levels of power in the Garden State. Throughout it all, she never forgot where she came from or who she was elected to serve.

During our time together in the Assembly, Lieutenant Governor Oliver earned a well-deserved reputation as a pragmatic person who sought solutions that were in the best interests of the people of our state. New Jersey has lost a trailblazer and a legend. Her life of service will serve as a roadmap for generations to come and her legacy will never be forgotten.”
