Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-Tenafly) is launching a seven-figure digital ad buy today promoting his tax cut plan as he seeks the Democratic nomination for governor.
Gottheimer has no plans for an interruption of his media buy between today and the June 10 primary election.
In a 15-second ad, “Proof,” Gottheimer speaks directly to the camera – with the backdrop of a Jersey diner – and tells people to check out his tax cut plan.
Script: “I’m Josh Gottheimer, and as your Governor, I’ll cut your taxes. But this is Jersey, so I know you won’t just take my word for it. And I get it. Check out my tax cut plan at Josh4Jersey.com and see it for yourself.”
In “Bullsh*t,” Gottheimer condenses his message to six seconds:
Script: “Hey Jersey! Taxes are too high. When I’m Governor, I’ll cut ‘em. No bullsh*t.”
“I’m running to be Jersey’s ‘Lower Taxes, Lower Costs’ Governor who solves problems and gets things done,” Gottheimer said. “In every diner I visit, I hear the same thing: Jersey is just too damn expensive. The number one problem I’ll solve as Governor will be Jersey’s affordability crisis. My ‘Tax Cut Plan’ will lower taxes and lower costs for homeowners, renters, families, and seniors, and I won’t stop until I get it done—no bullsh*t.”
A five-term congressman from North Jersey, Gottheimer worked as a White House speechwriter during Bill Clinton’s second term. He unseated a seven-term Republican congressman in 2016.
Gottheimer and five other candidates – Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop, Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair), New Jersey Education Association President Sean Spiller, and former Senate President Steve Sweeney – will face off in the first Democratic gubernatorial debate on Sunday, February 2 at 7 PM, hosted by the New Jersey Globe, On New Jersey, and the Rider University.
