No Democrats from N.J. are on NRCC target list

Republicans are eyeing 37 Democratic House seats in 2024, but none of them are from New Jersey.

All nine Democrats in the state’s House delegation won with double-digit victories in last year’s mid-term elections.

Reps. Josh Gottheimer (D-Wyckoff) in the 5th district and Bill Pascrell (D-Paterson) in the 9th each won by 11 points, Andy Kim (D-Moorestown) in the 3rd was re-elected by 12 points, and Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair) in the 11th scored a 19-point victory.

“Republicans are in the majority and on offense. We will grow our House majority by building strong campaigns around talented recruits in these districts who can communicate the dangers of Democrats’ extreme agenda,” said Rep. Richard Hudson (R-North Carolina), the chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC). “These House Democrats should be shaking in their boots.”

Pascrell, who turns 87 early next year, announced this evening that he would seek re-election in 2024.

Freshman Rep. Tom Kean, Jr. (R-Westfield), who flipped the 7th district last year when he ousted Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-Ringoes), is at the top of the Democratic hit list.

The list of targeted districts was first reported by POLITICO early this morning.
