The new president of The Fund for New Jersey is Brandon McKoy, the former leader of New Jersey Policy Perspective and one of the state’s leading advocates for social justice and equitable economic policies.
This marks a return to the 50-year-old philanthropic organization where McKoy served as a fellow from 2012 to 2014 and a return to New Jersey after a two-year stint at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities in Washington.
He’ll replace Kiki Jamieson, whose family is relocating out of New Jersey.
“We’re pleased to welcome Brandon back, now in a leadership role where his energy, strategic expertise, and strength of purpose will help drive The Fund for New Jersey’s work to advance progressive public policy to improve the lives of people throughout the state,” said Richard Roper, the board chair.
The first executive director of The Fund for New Jersey, originally called the Wallace-Eljibar Fund, was Gordon MacInnes, a former aide to Gov. Richard J. Hughes, and later a Democratic assemblyman and state senator from Morris County. McKoy replaced MacInnes as New Jersey Policy Perspective president in 2018.
McKoy had spent ten years at New Jersey Policy Perspective, the last three as president. During his presidency, his organization’s full-time staff doubled and expanded their footprint into education, criminal and legal systems, climate, transit, and child care. Through aggressive fundraising, New Jersey Policy Perspective’s budget also increased by 75%.
“The Fund for New Jersey has accomplished so much over the years and recognizes the need to empower people and communities to achieve more in the future,” stated McKoy. “I can’t think of a better place to be involved in that work than at The Fund for New Jersey.”
