Kean University has created the Nicholas P. Scutari Service Scholarship to honor a career of public service by the Senate President.
Dr. Lamont Repollet, the Kean president, announced the endowment of the scholarship at its annual gala last night that honored Scutari.
The scholarship will be available to Kean students who demonstrate a commitment to serving their community.
Union County Manager Ed Oatman played a key role in the event, which raised a huge amount of money for Kean University.
Scutari was elected to the Linden Board of Education shortly after his graduation from law school, and was a Union County freeholder before his election to the State Senate in 2003.
