Two more organizations are backing Rep. Albio Sires latest re-election bid.
The longtime incumbent earned endorsements from the New Jersey Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association and Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 32BJ.
“Albio Sires’ record of partnering with municipal governments and delivering millions of dollars in federal funding to hire more first responders and keep our communities safe is second to none,” NJ FMBA President Ed Donnelly said. “On behalf of our membership, I am proud to stand with Albio Sire and I urge all Democrats in the 8th District to join us in supporting a true public servant we can all count on.”
Sires faces a primary challenge from Hector Oseguera, who is running to Sires’ left, in his bid for another term.
“Our 32BJ members are proud to endorse Rep. Albio Sires so he can continue serving New Jersey’s working families in Washington, DC. He understands that our essential workers deserve essential pay and protection on the job, and has supported the HEROES Act, co-sponsored legislation to raise the federal minimum wage, and supported several bills that defend the rights of immigrants,” SEIU 32BJ State Director Kevin Brown said. “At a time that the White House has dropped any notion of leading to help the people, we need fighters like Sires working for us in the nation’s capital.”
