Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair) has been named to the House Education and Labor Higher Education and Workforce Investment Subcommittee.
The two-term Essex County Democrat added Education and Labor as a third committee assignment last month. She already holds seats on the Armed Services and Science, Space, and Technology Committees.
“Focus on and investment in our students and our workforce is absolutely essential to help our country get to the other side of this crisis,” Sherrill said. “Programs that build and support a strong workforce pipeline, connect students with the jobs of today, and ensure Americans have the training they need to adapt to the jobs of tomorrow will help to jumpstart our employment recovery from this pandemic and provide long-term benefits.
Sherill represents New Jersey’s 11th district, which is home to nine colleges universities: Montclair University; Drew University and Fairleigh Dickinson University, both in Madison; William Paterson University in Wayne; Caldwell University; Saint Elizabeth University in Morris Township; Bloomfield College; Morris County College in Randolph; and a campus of Essex County College in West Caldwell.
“I am excited to work with my colleagues on the Higher Education and Workforce Investment subcommittee as we get past this pandemic and support getting Americans back to work and our economy back on track,” Sherrill said.
