Mendham Borough Mayor Christine Serrano Glassner’s Republican campaign for U.S. Senate had another rough fundraising quarter to start out 2024, amassing just $136,773 during the first three months of the year – $100,000 of which came from her own pockets.
Combined with her haul from the 4th quarter of last year, Serrano Glassner has raised $403,306 overall since launching her campaign for Senate; three-quarters of that total was self-funded, meaning she’s raised just $102,364 from donors in the last six months. Serrano Glassner ended the 1st quarter with $353,396 on-hand.
That puts her far behind her main GOP primary opponent, developer Curtis Bashaw, who raised just over $1.1 million in Q1, a total which includes a $600,000 loan. Without the resources to get her campaign message out – and with a substantial disadvantage in county organizational support – Serrano Glassner is looking like an increasingly clear underdog to win the Republican nomination.
Still, she said in a statement that she has what it takes, financially and otherwise, to defeat Bashaw and move on to the general election.
“What our Q1 FEC report shows is that we have the resources in hand to win the primary in June. That’s the bottom line,” Serrano Glassner said. “We also have the support of grassroots Republicans across New Jersey and growing support among major donors. Why? Because I’m the only pro-Trump candidate in this race who will stand by President Trump from the U.S. Senate.”
Two other Republican candidates, Albert Harshaw and Justin Murphy, have not yet filed any fundraising reports.
The eventual winner of the Republican primary is likely to face Democratic Rep. Andy Kim (D-Moorestown), who has raised millions of dollars over the course of his Senate campaign and has a $4.2 million warchest.
