Seeking GOP Senate seats, Mehta headed to Georgia

Former GOP U.S. Senate candidate Rik Mehta is going to Georgia to help Republicans David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler keep their seats in a race that can determine which party controls the United States Senate.

“I’m proud to put together and lead a fierce operative team down to Georgia to help get out the vote until election day,” Mehta said.  “Giving Democrats all three branches of government would give unchecked power to a party who will continue to destroy our economy, bankrupt our healthcare system, make prescription drugs unaffordable and globalize millions of jobs to Communist countries like China”.

Mehta lost his Senate race against incumbent Cory Booker by a 57%-41% margin, but still won more actual votes than any other GOP statewide candidate in New Jersey history.

The Georgia runoffs are set for January 5.

“I’m proud to put together and lead a fierce operative team down to Georgia to help get out the vote until election day,” Mehta said.

New Jersey Democrats are working to pick up the two Georgia seats, with Booker U.S. Senator Bob Menendez and Reps. Josh Gottheimer (D-Wyckoff) and Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair) sending out fundraising appeals.

“If we’re going to protect and ensure access to quality health care, we need to ditch Mitch,” Menendez said. “And if we’re going to take meaningful action on climate change before it’s too late, I need Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock fighting for it alongside me.
