House Minority Whip Steve Scalise has endorsed Tom Kean, Jr. for the Republican nomination for Congress in New Jersey’s 7th district.
“We need more conservative leaders in Washington who will put their constituents first, “Scalise said. “Tom Kean is the person for the job.”
Kean, the minority leader of the New Jersey Senate, formally entered the race for Congress last week. He’s seeking a rematch against Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-Ringoes), who defeated him in 2020 by just 1% of the vote. He’s one of the top targets for national Republicans.
“Over the past 20 years, Senator Kean has dedicated himself to serving New Jersey families honestly and ethically. That is something that cannot be said of his opponent, Congressman Malinowski,” stated Scalise, a Republican from Louisiana. “Senator Kean will be a great asset in Washington, and I look forward to working to get him elected.”
This is Kean’s second major national endorsement. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy appeared with Kean at his campaign kickoff in New Jersey last week.
“In times like these, it is vital that Congress work together to bring jobs back to the American people, lower our taxes, and fix our broken healthcare system. Currently, we have a Congressman who is doing just the opposite, and who has profited from the misfortune of other Americans,” said Kean. “I am confident, with the help of great leaders, such as Representative Scalise, we will get the job done and bring real and responsible leadership to the seventh Congressional district.”
McCarthy and Kean appeared on the New Jersey Globe Power Hour on Talk Radio 77 WABC on July 17 to discuss the 7th district race.
