Rep. Rob Menendez (D-Jersey City)’s campaign for re-election has gotten the backing of Sheet Metal Workers Local 25, a North Jersey-based sheet metal workers union that’s part of the state Building & Construction Trades Council.
“In his first year in Congress, Rob has been a positive force for the members of Local 25,” Sheet Metal Workers Local 25 President Joseph Demark Jr. said in a statement. “Rob’s legislative record demonstrates his commitment to organized labor – whether it be introducing the Working Families Task Force Act which will benefit many of our members and their families, or co-sponsoring the PRO Act which will strengthen unions and protect the right to organize.”
Menendez, who is serving his first term representing most of Hudson County in Congress, faces Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla and real estate lender Kyle Jasey in this year’s Democratic primary.
Sheet Metal Workers Local 25 is Menendez’s latest labor endorser; the congressman also has the support of the Hudson County Building & Construction Trades Council, the Hudson County Central Labor Council, and the state’s biggest firefighters’ and carpenters’ unions.
