Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair) touts her service as a U.S. Navy helicopter pilot and her efforts as a freshman congresswoman to help New Jersey hospitals and businesses obtain federal funding during the coronavirus pandemic in a new TV ad that will air on cable television stations and on digital media in New Jersey’s 11th district.
The ad, “Mission,” is mostly narrated by Sherrill and talks about her military service and her push for affordable heath care and for COVID-19 relief.
Script: “When I was a Navy helicopter commander, we never chose our missions, but it was always our job to get them done. New Jersey has been hit so hard by this global pandemic. I fought hard to get more funding to New Jersey hospitals. I’m also working to make sure our businesses can stay in business and to make sure people can afford their healthcare. We all share a mission right now and we all have to do our part. Mikie Sherrill. Navy pilot. Prosecutor. Mom. I’m Mikie Sherrill and I approved this message.”
The Sherrill campaign noted the congresswoman’s push to provide personal protection equipment to essential worker and funding for local school districts.
This is Sherrill’s second TV ad as she seeks re-election to a second term in the U.S House of Representatives. She faces Republican Rosemary Becchi, a former tax counsel to the U.S Senate Finance Committee.
The campaign did not disclose how much they are spending on the new ad.
Sherrill flipped the 11th district seat in 2018 after 34 years of Republican representation.
