Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-Tenafly) is up on the air with a new TV ad focusing on what’s at stake in the 2024 election and urging people to vote on November 5.

The 15-second ad, “Vote,” is narrated by Gottheimer and pushes common themes in his re-election campaign in New Jersey’s 5th district: affordability, abortion rights, and public safety.

Script: “Lowering costs.  Protecting abortion rights.  Safer communities.  I’m Josh Gottheimer, and that’s what I’m fighting for in Congress.  New Jersey has a lot at stake on Tuesday.  I approve this message because we all need to come out and vote.”

Gottheimer faces Republican Mary Jo Guinchard in the November 5 general election in a district The Cook Political Report rates “Safe Democratic.”  He has $20.3 million cash-on-hand, a 141-1 advantage over Guinchard.

The former Clinton White House speechwriter unseated seven-term Rep. Scott Garrett (R-Wantage) in 2016 in a district carried by GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Gottheimer is expected to enter the race for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination later this year.

This is the third TV ad of Gottheimer’s re-election campaign.
