Democrat Rebecca Bennett is on the air with a new TV ad that highlights her service as a U.S. Navy helicopter pilot and her top four priorities if she unseats two-term Rep. Tom Kean, Jr. (R-Westfield) in New Jersey’s 7th district.

In “Words to Live By,” Bennett narrates a positive ad that begins with Navy helicopter photos, video of her in the kitchen with her husband and two young daughters, and pledges to make New Jersey more affordable, end the war in Iran, and end stock trading for members of Congress.  With a photo of President Donald Trump on screen, she says she’s “crack down on corruption.”

Script: “Whether flying missions in the Middle East, on the job, or on mom duty here at home, I’ve always found that the biggest problems, not away from them.  That’s exactly what I’ll do in Congress. I’m Rebecca Bennett.  I’ll fight to lower prices, end the reckless war in Iran, ban Congress from trading stocks, and crack down on corruption.  Because service over self is the Navy’s motto and mine.  That’s why I approve this message.”

Bennett and Kean faced off in their only debate on Sunday night at the Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway, hosted by the New Jersey Globe and Rider University.

The non-partisan Cook Political Report said last week that Bennett was favored to defeat Kean.

An InsiderNJ/StimSight Research poll released earlier this month gave Bennett a five-point lead over Kean among likely voters, 47%-42% — numbers that were in the margin of error.  But InsiderNJ is owned by John F.X. Graham, a Democratic National Committeeman and a major donor to Bennett.
