Andy Kim appears to be up on the air with his first negative TV ad since 2018, accusing Republican Bob Healey of supporting taxes cuts for the wealthy at the expense of the middle class and opposing lower prescription drug costs.
The ad was available on YouTube, but it’s not clear when it launched.
The ad, “We Lose,” focuses on Healey’s ownership of a yacht manufacturing company, showing images of yachts and champagne, and slams the first-time GOP candidate for owning stock on pharmaceutical companies. The ad ends with a wholesome clip of Kim fishing with his two sons.
Script: “(Narrator) Bob sells yachts. So Bob wants to cut taxes for multimillionaires like himself — including yacht taxes — by raising taxes on the middle class. Bob owns pharmaceutical stocks, so Bob wants to protect profits by stopping legislation that lowers prescription drug costs. Bob Healey’s running for Congress, so Bob wins and we lose. ( Kim) I’m Andy Kim, and I approve this message because I’m standing against corruption and standing up for you”
Kim ran negative ads in his first House campaign when he unseated Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-Toms River) four years ago but did not run any when he won his second term against Republican David Richter in 2020.
