The political action committee of the National Organization for Women, a major feminist organization, has endorsed Democratic Port Authority Commissioner Rob Menendez for the 8th congressional district.
“Rob Menendez is an advocate of the people, fighting for families in New Jersey,” NOW PAC Chairwoman Christian Nunes said in a statement. “We are proud to endorse Rob Menendez for Congress and know that he will continue to fight for reproductive rights, economic justice and fairness for all communities.”
Menendez, the son of U.S. Senator Bob Menendez, is the heavy favorite for the strongly Democratic 8th district, which covers mostly Hispanic areas in urban North Jersey. Assuming he beats Republican Marcos Arroyo, he’ll succeed Rep. Albio Sires (D-West New York), who is retiring after 16 years in Congress.
NOW PAC had previously endorsed five New Jersey members of Congress this cycle: Reps. Andy Kim (D-Moorestown), Frank Pallone (D-Long Branch), Tom Malinowski (D-Ringoes), Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair), and Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-Ewing).
