Michael Roth’s campaign for New Jersey’s 7th congressional district is out with its first ad of the Democratic primary election, a digital and streaming spot that promotes the former Biden administration official as a “proud product of New Jersey.”

“At the Small Business Administration, I stood up to Trump for immigrants and reproductive rights,” Roth says in the ad, which his campaign is initially backing with a “significant five-figure” investment. “I’m the only candidate who’s lowered costs, taken on Trump, and won.”

Four candidates are seeking the support of Democratic primary voters on June 2 to run against two-term Rep. Tom Kean Jr. (R-Westfield), considered one of the most vulnerable Republican congressmen in the country.

With the debut of Roth’s ad today, all four Democrats are now airing ads introducing themselves to voters: Rebecca Bennett tells of her years as a Navy helicopter pilot, Tina Shah says her time as an ICU doctor means she knows how to handle a crisis, and Brian Varela leans into his own background as the successful son of immigrants.

Script
Michael Roth: “‘Hello, New Jersey!’ That’s me, Michael Roth: proud product of New Jersey. At the Small Business Administration, I stood up to Trump for immigrants and reproductive rights. I saved one million New Jersey jobs during Covid, and built a business and nonprofit to revitalize communities and lower costs. Now I’m running for Congress because Donald Trump is going after the very values that America stands for. I’m the only candidate who’s lowered costs, taken on Trump, and won. Let’s go.”
