Mejia digital ads tout Sanders, AOC endorsements

Campaign says ads will be backed by six-figure buy

Analilia Mejia’s campaign for New Jersey’s 11th congressional district has been endorsed two of the nation’s most prominent progressives, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-New York), and a new digital ad touts both.

The 15-second spot, “Ready on Day One,” lists the two endorsements and says Mejia is “the fighter and leader we need to take our government back from the billionaires.” Another 30-second spot, “Not a Politician,” goes more in-depth on Mejia’s background.

Mejia’s campaign said the ads will be backed by a six-figure ad buy; while Mejia hasn’t raised as much as many of her competitors for the 11th district, per fundraising reports filed over the weekend, she saved up more cash for the race’s final weeks than almost anyone else.

“I’m proud to say I’m not a politician, and I don’t work for the political machine,” Mejia said in a statement. “I’m proud to have the support of Bernie Sanders and AOC. They know I’m an organizer who’s spent the last 25 years fighting for families like mine and winning real policy change.”

“Ready on Day One” script
Narrator: “Analilia Mejia is endorsed by Bernie Sanders and AOC. With 25 years of experience, she’s ready on Day One. Analilia Mejia is the fighter and leader we need to take our government back from the billionaires.”

“Not a Politician” script
Mejia: “I am not a politician. I don’t work for the political machine. I am Analilia Mejia, the daughter of Latino and Black immigrants. And for my entire life, I’ve fought against the billionaires for us, the people, who keep working harder every day but have less to show for it. I’m ready to take our government back from the billionaires, the politicians they own, and give it to us, the people. That’s why I, Analilia Mejia, your candidate for Congress, approve this message.”
