Republican Curtis Bashaw has picked a seasoned veteran of New Jersey politics to run his general election campaign for U.S. Senate, naming Angelo Lamberto as his campaign manager.
Lamberto is a former Republican National Committee official who served as deputy campaign manager for Jack Ciattarelli, who came within three percentage points of ousting Gov. Phil Murphy in 2021.
“I’m running against not one, but two, entrenched DC Democrats — Bob Menendez and Andy Kim. And we’re going to wage one of the most exciting races New Jersey’s ever seen,” Bashaw said “Angelo Lamberto is an experienced and accomplished campaign professional. We’re fortunate to have him leading our talented team as we fight the New Jersey Democrat machine to take back this Senate seat for all of New Jersey.”
Some Republicans believe that if Menendez is not convicted – and if he remains in the race – the New Jersey Senate seat could be in play for the first time in decades, albeit an uphill fight.
Lamberto takes over for Alex Wilkes, who came in to run a competitive primary campaign against Donald Trump’s candidate, Mendham Mayor Christine Serrano Glassner. Bashaw had won two-thirds of GOP county conventions across the state, and beat Serrano Glassner by seven points in a four-way race.
He ran one of the state’s most competitive legislative races in 2019, helping Ryan Peters (R-Hainesport) and Jean Stanfield (R-Northampton) withstand millions in spending by the South Jersey Democratic machine.
“Curtis Bashaw is a once-in-a-generation candidate who can break the Democrat monopoly and win a U.S. Senate seat for Republicans for the first time in over 50 years,” stated Lamberto. “I’m excited to help Curtis launch a winning campaign to take back New Jersey from the Democrats who’ve delivered nothing for Garden State families except corruption, chaos at the border, and higher taxes.”
