House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer is headed to New Jersey later this month for a high dollar fundraiser to boost the re-election of Rep. Donald Norcross (D-Camden) in New Jersey’s 1st district.
The congressman’s brothers, George E. Norcross III and Phi Norcross, are hosting the $2,900-per-person lunch on May 24 at the Tavistock Country Club.
Last cycle, Speaker Nancy Pelosi came to the 1st district to raise money for Norcross, a five-term Democrat.
Norcross had $1,948,196 cash-on-hand as of March 31, according to reports filed with the Federal Election Commission.
He was re-elected in 2020 with 62% of the vote against Republican Claire Gustafson.
A former union electrician and South Jersey AFL-CIO president, Norcross served in the state legislature before replacing Andrews.
President Joe Biden won the 1st district by a 62%-37% margin against Donald Trump last year.
Norcross serves on the House Armed Services Committee – he’s chairman of the Tactical Air and Land Forces Subcommittee – and he’s a member of the Education & Labor and Science, Space & Technology committees.
