Randolph Mayor Joe Hathaway – currently the only Republican running in the 11th congressional district special election to succeed Gov.-elect Mikie Sherrill – announced a wave of endorsements today from 18 Morris County Republicans.
Among the endorsers are former Morris GOP chairman John Sette, who led the county party from 2002 to 2016; State Committeeman Larry Casha, who made brief runs for the 11th district in 2020 and 2022; the mayors of Florham Park, Hanover, and Jefferson; and three of Hathaway’s colleagues on the Randolph Township Council.
“Together, we are beginning to build a strong coalition that shares my belief in the need for commonsense solutions and putting the needs of New Jersey families first,” Hathaway said in a statement. Today’s group of endorsements, Hathaway said, will be followed by more in the coming weeks.
Hathaway initially launched his campaign in October, when Sherrill was still competing for the governorship against Republican Jack Ciattarelli. Now that Sherrill is the governor-elect, a special election is underway to replace her in her Democratic-leaning district, an election that so far features Hathaway and no fewer than 11 Democratic candidates.
