The Congressional Leadership Fund, a super PAC with ties to the House Republican leadership, is up with a new cable TV ad claiming that Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-Ringoes) opposed middle class tax cuts and backs a 20% increase in the payroll tax.
The 30-second ad, “Extra,” is part of the $2.7 million the super PAC is spending to oust Malinowski and replace him with Republican Tom Kean, Jr., the minority leader of the New Jersey State Senate.
The TV ad shows Malinowski with a green line across his eyes – sort of a Green Hornet mask — and combines images of the freshman congressman and stock footage.
It also includes a clip of Malinowski saying, “New Jersey’s getting screwed,” followed by a voice-over saying “We sure are.”
Script: “Got ten grand just lying around? Because with liberal Tom Malinowski, you’re family’s gonna need it. Malinowski opposed middle class tax cuts that saved families thousands. And he wants to increase payroll taxes by 20%, raising the bill to nearly $10,000 a year for the average North Jersey family. New Jersey’s getting screwed. We sure are. Ten thousand different ways by liberal Tom Malinowski. Congressional Leadership Fund is responsible for the content of this advertising.”
“Families are already struggling, but the Democrats’ radical agenda of higher taxes and fewer police and rural hospitals will only make their problems even worse,” said Calvin Moore, the CLF communications director. “Americans can’t afford to sit back and let Democrats take even more money out of their paycheck, destroy the safety of their neighborhoods, and rip away their access to rural healthcare.”
