Craig Guy endorses Jerry Walker for Congress

Hudson County Executive Craig Guy, the new Democratic county chairman, is personally endorsing Jerry Walker for Congress in a July 18 special Democratic primary in New Jersey’s 10th district.

Part of Jersey City is in the 10th.

Hudson had initially not taken sides in the race to fill the unexpired term of Rep. Donald Payne, Jr. (D-Newark), who died in April.  Walker, a Hudson County Commissioner, is the lone Hudson candidate in an eleven-candidate Democratic primary.

Guy, who became county chairman a few weeks ago, will headline a July 10 fundraiser for Walker.

Newark Council President LaMonica McIver is the front-runner for Payne’s unexpired term.

Payne won the June 4 primary posthumously and Democratic county committee members from Essex, Hudson and Union towns in the 10th district will hold a separate meeting to pick a new candidate to run in November for a two-year term.
