Congressional candidate David Applefield has a new robocall featuring his mother, a child Holocaust survivor who now speaks at schools on How to Say No to Hate.
Script: My name is Janet Applefield. When the Gestapo came to my village in Poland, my mother was sent to a death camp and my father to slave labor. I was only four and hidden by courageous strangers. My father miraculously found me and in March 1947 we arrived in New Jersey. My son, David Applefield, is running for Congress because like me he believes in the promise of America and in Tikkun Olam, the act of repairing and healing the world. Our choices matter. Your vote in this election can be the act that that matters most. My son, David, believes in justice, opportunity and fiscal responsibility. Please vote for my son, David Applefield for Congress, on your mail-in ballot or on Election Day, July 7.
Applefield is seeking the Democratic nomination to challenge 20-term Rep. Christopher Smith (R-Hamilton) in New Jersey’s 4th district.
According to the campaign, the robocall went to landlines across the district.
The campaign is also using the message in a mailer that went out to Democrats and unaffiliated voters.
