Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-Wyckoff) has won the endorsement of the Paramus-based International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 164, a hugely influential North Jersey labor union with a history of backing up their endorsements with boots on the ground for Election Day.
“Whether in Washington or here in New Jersey, Josh Gottheimer has always had our back,” said IBEW Local 164 Business Manager Dan Gumble. “From his first day in Congress, there has been no greater champion for the thousands of men and women of labor we represent across New Jersey.”
Gottheimer is seeking re-election to his fifth term as the congressman from New Jersey’s 5th district. He’ll face the winner of the Republican primary between Mary Jo Guinchard, a former mayor of Tuxedo Park, New York, and George Song, a Paramus school board member.
“I’ve been proud to fight alongside the hardworking members of IBEW Local 164 over the past seven years in Congress to make Jersey an even better place for our families and small businesses,” Gottheimer stated. “The great men and women of labor helped build this state and our country, while creating the most competitive workforce in the world.”
In the next-door 9th district, Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-Paterson) won the endorsement of the New Jersey State Troopers Fraternal Association.
The union president, Wayne Blanchard, said there was “no bigger law enforcement champion” than Pascrell.
Pascrell faces a challenge in the Democratic primary from Prospect Park Mayor Mohamed Khairullah.
