An executive order moving runoff elections in Trenton, Perth Amboy and Manchester from December 6 to December 13 means voter registration has reopened,  the New Jersey Globe has confirmed.

New Jersey allows voters to register up until 21 days before Election Day.   For a December 6 election, the registration deadline was last Tuesday, November 15.  Now it will be tomorrow, November 22.

Acting Gov. Sheila Oliver signed the executive order on Friday pushing the runoffs ahead by one week.

Anyone eligible to vote in the three runoff municipalities may register online, at the Motor Vehicles Commission, or in person at the county election office or the municipal clerk’s office.  State law requires election officials to maintain extended evening hours tomorrow.

Voter registrations that were completed between October 19 and tomorrow should be good to go for the runoffs.  Additionally, any 17-year-old who turns 18 by December 13 will be entitled to vote in the December 13 runoff.

Election officials must update their voter registry to reflect accept provisional ballots that were accepted for the November 8 general election.
