Three prominent Republican women who backed Jack Ciattarelli for governor in 2021 are headlining a Women for Common Sense New Jersey luncheon next week with radio personality Bill Spadea, a likely rival for the GOP gubernatorial nomination in 2025.
State Sen. Holly Schepisi (R-River Vale), Gloucester County GOP Chair Jacci Vigilante, and Mercer County GOP Chair Lisa Richford are listed with Spadea as speakers at a $65-per-person women’s luncheon in Morristown.
Schepisi said she hasn’t decided whom she’ll support in a primary that is still two years away, instead focusing on her Senate re-election bid.
“I’m not showing any allegiance to any candidate at this point,” the Bergen County senator said. “I show up for everything, especially for women supporting women.”
Next week’s event appears to conflict with a Senate voting session, which will preclude Schepisi’s attendance.
Vigilante was an early Ciattarelli supporter in the last election but wound up in a sort of “friend of a friend” deal with Spadea, who backed her candidates for State Senate seats in last week’s primary, incumbent Ed Durr (R-Logan) and 4th district candidate Nick DeSilvio.
Richford is mounting an uphill fight for county executive against Democrat Dan Benson.
