Hudson CLC endorses Nadrowski for Bayonne mayor

The Hudson County Central Labor Council endorsed former Bayonne Council President Sharon Ashe-Nadrowski for mayor in Bayonne on Thursday,

Nadrowski is challenging Councilman Loyad Booker, former Bayonne Councilwoman Mary Jane Desmond, and property developer Lance Lucarelli for the mayoralty. The CLC is a state and local council of the national AFL-CIO, representing more than 12,000 members across 48 affiliate unions within twelve municipalities throughout Hudson County.

“As Mayor I will ensure that local union members benefit from new development in our city, which will then help support our small businesses and our city’s economy,” Nadrowski said in an announcement. “The era of city leaders giving developers handouts without any accountability is coming to an end, because we will make sure that Bayonne residents get the jobs, tax revenue and economic support we deserve.”

The May 12 non-partisan municipal election is less than a month away.

“The Hudson County Central Labor Council is 100% behind Sharon Nadrowski’s campaign for Bayonne Mayor because we know that she will always put working people first,” Hudson CLC President Cristino Vilorio said. “We’re proud to endorse Sharon and our members will be working hard to get out the vote over the coming weeks.”

Bayonne’s previous mayor, Jimmy Davis, resigned on Jan. 1 to become the Hudson County sheriff. The Bayonne City Council named Public Safety Director Robert Kubert as the interim mayor. He is not seeking a full term.
