Discovery on hold in Jersey Freedom lawsuit

By David Wildstein, December 14 2023 2:03 pm

Discovery in a lawsuit involving a tenebrous political group tied to South Jersey Democrats that backed a phantom State Senate candidate in the 4th district this year has been stayed until after Superior Court Judge Michael Blee decides if he will dismiss the case.

William Tambussi said his clients, Jersey Freedom and Eric Peterson, obeyed the state’s new Election Transparency Act when they spent money on mailings and TV ads on Fox News  targeting Republicans attacking Republican Chrstopher Del Borrello and urging conservative Giuseppe Costanzo instead.

Between  the time Republican State Committee counsel Jason Sena subpoenaed Citibank for Jersey Freedom’s financial records and the filing of a motion to quash by Tambussi, the bank had already complied and sent the records to the GOP.  Both sides agreed to withdraw a subpoena to Google for emails.

Blee will hold another conference with the lawyers early next year.
