The endorsements keep coming for Senate President Nicholas Scutari and Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin, with Passaic County Democratic Chairman John Currie adding his support to their continued service as legislative leaders.
“Senate President Nick Scutari and Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin have consistently demonstrated their commitment to New Jersey’s growth. Together with Governor Murphy, they’ve advanced educational opportunities and improved healthcare accessibility,” said Currie, a former Democratic state chairman. “Their leadership has positively impacted Passaic County, echoing the successes felt statewide.”
In the last 24 hours, Scutari and Coughlin have received public endorsements from Democratic leaders in Essex, Bergen, Hudson, Monmouth, Mercer, Middlesex, and Somerset.
With Currie, Scutari and Coughlin now have the backing of party leadership in every county in Central and North Jersey that has a Democratic legislator. Scutari, who has not endorsed himself, is the Union County Democratic chairman. But he did endorse Coughlin.
“Speaker Coughlin has done an excellent job leading the General Assembly. Together, we enacted historic property tax cuts, protected a woman’s right to choose, fought for gun safety measures, and righted our state’s fiscal ship. He cares deeply about Union County, and our entire state,” Scutari said. “He deserves another term as Speaker, and the Union County delegation is thrilled to support his reelection.”
One Democratic senator and three Democratic assemblymembers live in Passaic County.
