Bashaw gets the line in Essex

Essex County Republicans are going with Curtis Bashaw, giving him in his 12th county line in his bid for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate.

Assemblyman Al Barlas (R-Cedar Grove), the longtime Essex GOP chairman, announced tonight that he’s awarded the line to Bashaw, a real estate developer and hotelier from Cape May County.  Barlas awarded the line in consultation with Essex Republican municipal chairs.

Bashaw has emerged as the frontrunner after winning conventions in Ocean, Mercer, Middlesex, and Somerset and securing party endorsements in seven South Jersey counties: Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem counties.

Essex made up 2.5% of the statewide GOP primary vote in 2020.
