Badger will run Mehta Senate race

By David Wildstein, July 06 2020 5:56 pm

Kinn Badger, the executive director of the Monmouth County Democrats is heading to North Jersey to manage Rupande Mehta’s campaign for State Senate in the 25th district.

Mehta is challenging State Sen. Anthony M. Bucco (R-Boonton) in the state’s only special election for the State Senate.

Bucco moved up to the Senate last October following the death of his father, State Sen. Anthony R. Bucco (R-Boonton).  He also won re-election to his Assembly seat last year; his replacement, Assemblywoman Aura Dunn (R-Mendham) faces Democrat Darcy Drager, the Chester Democratic municipal chair, in November.

Badger, a consultant and campaign aide to Senate Majority Conference Leader Vin Gopal (D-Long Branch), has worked for the Monmouth County Democrats since 2018.  She ran the re-election campaign of 11th district legislators Eric Houghtaling (D-Neptune) and Joann Downey (D-Freehold) in 2019.

She worked as a field organizer for the Florida Democratic Party and as Jon Osoff’s youth vote organizer in a 2017 Georgia special House election.
