Anthony Vainieri on the Quraishi Decision

By David Wildstein, March 29 2024 3:22 pm

Hudson County Democratic Anthony Vainieri, released the following statement today after U.S. District Court Judge Zahid Quraishi granted a preliminary injunction that ends the organization line for the 2024 primary election and mandates office block voting:

“I strongly disagree with the judge’s ruling today. If he was acting to abolish the party lines he should have done it for next year, not this year, because we need more time to educate our voters and for the county clerks to redesign the ballots. Residents in Hudson County are still trying to get used to the new voting machines installed last year, especially our seniors, and this is absolutely the wrong time to force such a drastic change on our voters. The HCDO will continue to work hard to support our candidates and ensure that they are successful in June and November as we always have.”
