One of the state’s most influential Black ministers. Rev. Dr. Charles F. Boyer, admonished Assembly Republican leaders for calling for the impeachment of Attorney General Matt Platkin, saying they should pay more attention to Donald Trump.
“Attorney General Matt Platkin has relentlessly chased corruption and abuse in all sectors. This attack is a Trump-level event in New Jersey. Those that want to impeach the AG are those who benefit from the corruption that runs rampant in New Jersey,” said Boyer. “Leave it up to people who turned a blind eye to vast corruption in Washington, D.C. during the Trump Presidency to wrap themselves in the cloak of utter moral depravity and hypocrisy in New Jersey.”
Assembly Minority Leader John DiMaio and members of his leadership team filed articles of impeachment against Platkin on Thursday, one day after Superior Court Judge Peter Warshaw dismissed an indictment against Democratic powerbroker George E. Norcross III and others.
U.S. Senator Andy Kim staunchly defended Platkin.
Platkin issued a statement saying he was “not going to respond to partisan political attacks.”
Boyer is the director and co-founder of Salvation and Social Justice and the pastor of the Greater Mt. Zion AME Church in Trenton
