Opinion: If Zwicker Thinks Abortion Is On The Ballot This November, It’s Because Democrats Need To Lie About It

OPINION

Andrew Zwicker is lying about what Republicans would do on abortion if we become the majority party in the legislature. Probably because he is worried that Republicans have a real chance to win in November. Maybe he isn’t a liar, but he must be out of touch with reality.

The truth is that Sen. Zwicker’s bogus scare tactic discounts that an abortion ban wouldn’t be supported by the full Republican caucus. Unlike Democrats, who strong arm their members into voting against their personal beliefs for political reasons, Republicans respect that people have different opinions and need to vote with their conscience. That is why Democrats are the extreme party in Trenton, not Republicans.

What’s more extreme?

Supporting full-term abortion – essentially supporting abortion until birth?

Or supporting a reasonable position on abortion that includes helping victims of rape, incest and women suffering from medical complications?

Zwicker and Democrats are resorting to calling Republicans extreme when they have the extreme views. They are trying to cover for completely failing on the issues driving this election; like affordability, Murphy’s disastrous energy policies and parental notification from schools.

Parents are concerned and care for their children. Parents want their children to grow up in a New Jersey that is more affordable, they want them to have better lives, and they want to know that their rights are protected. Democrats have a guilty until innocent approach to parents with transgender children that assumes the worst, and a guilty until proven innocent view on abortion based on progressive purity.

Republicans will always protect people’s rights, and the diversity of opinion in our caucus ensures that we are better suited to run a moderate legislature than Democrats who have succumbed to the pressure from far-left, activist radicals. For example, Zwicker is so extreme he wants to make New Jersey a sanctuary state for a child to permanently change their body even if the parents are opposed.

We want to help and support expecting mothers who might feel they don’t have another choice. Democrats in New Jersey voted for full-term abortions nearly two years ago. They haven’t done anything to change that fact because a nine-month abortion is something they think is appropriate. Most people don’t want a baby aborted just before birth. The amazing medical professionals in New Jersey save premature babies every day. Life is a precious thing. It’s not extremist to think that, even if Andrew Zwicker thinks it is.

It’s interesting that on this issue, Zwicker wants choice, but when it comes to deciding which appliances you can use and what you can know about your children he and Democrats don’t believe in choice. That’s hypocrisy.

Democrats have taken a position that they know better than the average person. They seem to think that people are better off being told what is right and wrong because the public doesn’t know the difference.

Zwicker is using scare tactics because he is scared that Democrats can’t motivate their base. A Monmouth poll showed New Jerseyans don’t believe abortion is at risk. The people are right. It isn’t an issue in New Jersey because that’s the political reality.

Democrats can keep using the pipeline of money they get from their special-interest friends to fool the people of New Jersey, as Zwicker said, “over and over and over again,” and they will. They have even run ads accusing two pro-choice Republican women in the 11th legislative district of being extremists who want to ban abortion.

The truth is that abortion rights aren’t at risk in New Jersey, and never were. If Republicans are in control, no right will ever be at risk. Democrats can’t say the same, and that’s why they are resorting to scare tactics and lying about abortion.

Republicans will keep focusing on the issues that matter because Democrats have failed to make New Jersey more affordable, failed to protect people from expensive electrification mandates, and failed to protect a parent’s right to know about their child.

John DiMaio, the minority leader of the New Jersey State Assembly, represents New Jersey’s 23rd legislative district.
