Even in a pivotal election year, infighting among Gloucester County Republicans continues.
In a race for State Committeeman, Woolwich GOP Municipal Chairman Tom Narolewski defeated County Commissioner Chris Konawel by a 2-1 margin, 114-54, with Ron Pinchick, a former Clayton council candidate, finishing third with 15 votes; Damon Galdo, who lost a primary for Congress in 2024, received 10 votes.
Marla DeMarcantonio, a former Gloucester County Bar Association president who serves as a municipal solicitor and planning board solicitor for several Gloucester and Salem municipalities, easily won a three-way race for State Committeewoman. She defeated Samantha Sammons, a former Gloucester GOP secretary, 120-44, with 29 votes for Janet Schaefer.
The incumbents, Stephen Bottiglieri and Barbara Capelli, did not seek re-election.
Konawel is currently running for State Assembly in the hugely competitive 3rd legislative district. Sammons is the daughter of former Sheriff Jonathan Sammons, who is on the ballot this year as a candidate for county commissioner in what could be a control election.
The results mark a victory for Harrison Township Mayor Adam Wingate. Last year, Wingate unseated Gloucester County Republican Chair Jacci Vigilante by 29 votes.
Under a new law enacted this year, State Committee members are no longer elected in June primaries; instead, they are selected in a vote of the full county committee.
