Democrat Thomas Szczur Jr. won election to the Cranbury Township Committee, defeating Republican Carol Haring, who secured her party’s nomination through a successful write-in campaign in the June primary.

Szczur received 1,197 votes, while Haring received 700 votes.

Szczur, a certified public accountant registered in both New Jersey and New York, succeeds Committeeman Matthew Scott, who did not seek re-election.

The victory preserved Democratic control in a township that has shifted from a swing community into a reliably Democratic municipality. Kamala Harris carried Cranbury by 24 points in 2024, while Gov. Mikie Sherrill won it by 23 points in 2025.
