East Orange Mayor Ted Green, a delegate to the Democratic National Convention, today endorsed Kamala Harris to replace Joe Biden as the presidential nominee of his party.

“Nearly two decades ago, my late mother, Lula Green, shared with me her strong intuition that a woman would rise to the presidency in the near future. Though she couldn’t predict when, she firmly believed it would happen within my lifetime.” Green said.  “As news emerged of President Joseph Biden’s recent decision to withdraw from the 2024 Presidential Election, I couldn’t help but recall my mother’s prophetic words, which shed a poignant light on this historic political development.”

Green is a strong political ally of Democratic State Chairman LeRoy Jones, Jr.

“The experience, commitment, and leadership of Vice President Harris, along with the potential for her to assume the highest office, provide us with a compelling vision of our nation’s future,” said Green.  “At the local level, it’s crucial that we support a President capable of advocating effectively on critical issues impacting the residents of East Orange, such as affordable housing, workforce development, immigration, and healthcare, while also addressing humanitarian issues such as climate change, civil unrest, and global poverty.”

The New Jersey delegates will meet tonight and are expected to endorse Harris.
